About Wretha: A Life of Learning, Independence, and Intentional Living

Welcome, friend. If you're here, you're probably someone who values self-reliance, personal growth, and learningor maybe you're simply curious about how I’ve chosen to live. Either way, I’m glad you’re here.

I’m Wretha, and I’ve spent years living an intentional life that blends curiosity, resourcefulness, and off-grid living. What I share on this blog isn’t theoryit’s been lived, tested, and shaped by real experience. Whether I’m writing about mindset shifts, off-grid life, writing practices, or strategies for staying balanced and energized, everything comes from a place of continual learning and deep interest.

Lifelong Learner and Researcher

My journey into self-reliance and personal development started early and has evolved over decades. I’ve spent countless hours reading, researching, and experimenting with ways to support mental clarity, focus, and well-being. I'm always exploring tools and techniques that help people live more intentionally, from practical habit changes to lifestyle choices that encourage better energy and peace of mind.

Over time, I’ve built a personal knowledge base around what supports me in staying balanced, sharp, and motivated. I pay close attention to what works for meand just as importantly, what doesn’t. I don’t claim to have all the answers, but I do believe in sharing helpful ideas that others might find useful too.

Off-Grid Living and Solar Simplicity

Since 2007, I’ve lived 100% off the grid in the rugged mountains of far West Texas. My home is powered by solar, warmed with wood, and rooted in simplicity. Life out here teaches you how to be creative, efficient, and more in tune with the basics most people take for granted.

We manage our own power systems, haul water, grow and preserve food, and keep things running with minimal resources. This lifestyle has shaped how I think, how I plan, and how I solve problems. It’s also taught me to trust my instincts and keep learning as I go.

Personal Growth and Mindset Work

Over the years, I’ve explored many ideas and practices related to personal development. I’ve learned that how you think affects how you live, and that small, daily changes in mindset can ripple out into bigger life shifts.

From journaling and visualization to self-discipline and reflective writing, I use tools that help me stay centered and focused. I’m a big believer in developing emotional awareness and using thought patterns that support growth, not sabotage it. These aren’t quick fixesthey’re part of a lifelong process, and I’m still learning every day.

Writing and Observation

Writing has always been a core part of how I process the world. I write to think, to remember, and to capture insights before they slip away. This blog is an extension of thatit’s my digital notebook, open to anyone who finds value in what I notice and reflect on.

When I come across interesting long-form contentwhether it’s a video, a podcast, or an articleI pull out the main ideas and reframe them in my own words. I don’t repost or quote large blocks. Instead, I distill what stands out, add my own perspective, and share it in a way that’s easier to absorb and apply.
